The Soløy was a 304grt 42 metre sand carrier, built in 1937 as a whaling boat and converted to cargo when she retired from whaling in the 1950s. She sank in August 1987 after running aground. Today the wreck sits upright in excellent condition on a sandy seabed with the bow shallowest, unfortunately too deep for most people (myself included) to want to dive on air.
