SUNK
Inger Seks, a 5000 ton
Norwegian steamship,
commandeered by
Germans, went down
after an allied air attack in Instefjorden on the 23rd of April 1945. The
ship had stranded the day before, and was quickly spotted by the British who
attacked this large freighter. It is said that Inger Seks remained on the
reef burning for several days before she slid off and sank. Inger
Seks was requisitioned by the German occupation force in Norway in May 1940,
and had almost survived the second world war under German flag when she was
sunk.
DIVING
The wreck of Inger Seks lies in a depth of 26m to 60m on the west side of Instefjorden.
She can be dived from the shore, but it's easier from a boat.
