The steamer Bandak
disappeared
in the outer Sognefjorden in February 1949 during a journey form Oslo to Årdal.
A crew of thirteen men was onboard Bandak , and nine of them perished in the stranding at Svartskjær. One of the casulties was never found
after the accident.
DIVING
Today the wreck of Bandak lies in a depth of 14m to 19m at Svartskjær
to the soutwest of Nesøy.
The wreck is broken in two pieces, and the bow lists to starboard.
The wreck of Bandak is well broken, but you still can see the outline of the
ship. To dive Bandak you need calm weather.
